What Is Internet Governance?
Ever wondered how your phone or laptop actually hooks up to the internet? Or how domain names and IP addresses get set up and managed? That’s exactly what Internet Governance is all about.
As tech keeps evolving—think AI everywhere—we’ve got big questions popping up: What makes an AI truly trustworthy? Which rules should govern e-commerce? And what responsibilities do platforms like social media have? The internet started off borderless, but with governments flexing their sovereignty and companies and nonprofits all pitching in, we now have guidelines and controls that shape everything from network design to business models.
Internet Governance isn’t just a tech issue—it’s where technology, law, policy, and ethics all intersect. It’s about crafting the right rules, balancing different interests, and making sure the internet stays open, fair, and secure.
Who Are We?
We’re a group of students who can’t get enough of Internet Governance. We come from places like National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua University, and the University of Tokyo. In partnership with NYCU School of Law and Peer Education Center of the Liberal Arts Academy, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, we’ve set up a study community to dive into every corner of Internet Governance.
On this platform, we share ideas, swap insights, and team up on research to figure out how to make the internet work better for everyone.
